What is a Ranger?

Byron Ranger Responsibilities:
Attend at least one Ranger event per month
Deliver impactful conservation outcomes with your Byron Rangers crew on each project
Support and respect your Ranger Leaders and fellow Rangers
Be a role model for the Ranger Ethos at Ranger events, and in the community through action, consistency and integrity
Provide emergency health care and assist with emergency projects as per your experience and qualifications
Develop environmental educational programs for adults and schools, as per your qualifications
Assist Ranger Leaders in collecting quantitative and qualitative data for input into the Ranger Impact Report, our weekly report shared with our community
Take photos and videos to share on social media
Identify partnership opportunities with businesses, schools, government or community groups to Keep Byron Beautiful
Who are Ranger Leaders?
Ranger Leaders are also Byron Rangers who work with our team to help organise and run Byron Ranger events. Ranger Leaders are passionate about creating meaningful relationships with the groups they run, and helping to identify ways that our conservation projects can make an even bigger positive impact.
Some Ranger Leaders have a full-time job and volunteer to host events when they can. A smaller group of Ranger Leaders are paid so that our community have committed Ranger Leaders to ensure the smooth operation of our events.
To be a Byron Ranger Leader you will be passionate about conservation, and dedicated to ensuring the safety of locals and visitors.
You will also have excellent communication skills, strong leadership skills, and a love of the outdoors.
Ranger Leader Responsibilities:
Lead crews of Byron Rangers to deliver impactful conservation outcomes
Lead at least one Ranger event per month
Embody the Ranger Ethos at events and in the community through action, consistency and integrity
Prepare for various conservation projects by ensuring you have the right people and tools to undertake tasks safely
Provide emergency health care and assist with emergency projects as per your experience and/or qualifications
Develop environmental educational programs for adults and schools, as per your qualifications
Collect quantitative and qualitative data for input into the Ranger Impact Report, a weekly report shared with our community
Take photos and videos to share on social media
Identify partnership opportunities with businesses, schools, government or community groups to Keep Byron Beautiful
