We need your support for Phase II of our Flood Clean Up

The water may have cleared, but your help is needed more than ever in supporting our community and cleaning up the Northern Rivers.

We've kicked off Phase II of our commitment to the Northern Rivers Flood Clean Up from Murwillumbah down to Coraki & out to Lismore, and assembled our first 3 projects to support both affected communities and commence the 2 year process of cleaning up the rubbish filled rivers and beaches.

But we can't do this without your help.

Here's how you can provide support:

 Volunteer your time if you are nearby & join as a Ranger.

We will allocate you to a team around the projects that interest you and ensure your valuable time is used wisely. Plus you'll meet some like minded new friends!

Donate what you can above - ANY amount helps!

Funding is essential in supporting these projects.

Part of a business that can help us reach our funding targets for specific projects? Email us at partnerships@byronrangers.com to discuss sponsorship opportunities or any fundraising event ideas you have.

Your donation or business sponsorship will directly support these projects:

 Project 1: Commuter Van for Community Support & Volunteers

Over 5,000 people in Lismore, Coraki, Woodburn, Wardell & Murwillumbah still don't have a home.

They don't have a kitchen to cook in and many are using camping stoves outside in tents. Many don't have a car still after losing it in the flood as the insurance process is a nightmare. Yes it's that bad.

To give these members of our community some dignity back, we need a full time van that holds 10-12 passengers plus a full time paid driver to share across the 6 different Hubs. This means each Hub can use this vehicle for 1 day a week to support elderly, at risk & everyday people.

We will also use the commuter van to bring 100 volunteers per week from businesses in Brisbane & the Gold Coast that are keen to help on their annual "volunteer day". This will mean an extra 5,000 volunteers to help locals who are exhausted and suffering from "compassion fatigue" from volunteering in the first 8 weeks of this crisis.

Your donation will provide for;

- Commuter van
- Wages for a driver for 12 months:
- Fuel for 12 month of daily driving, insurance, servicing and Project Management

  River & Beach Clean Ups

The damage caused by these floods is almost incomprehensible. This will be a 2 year project to clean up at a minimum. We are focusing on 5 beaches and river estuaries to get started - Belongil, South Ballina, Lighthouse Beach Ballina & Broken Head. The plan is to then do bit by bit down the 4 key rivers affected and beaches from Fingal down to Evans Head.

Your donation will allow us to;

- Co-ordinate and manage multiple clean up projects in a safe and risk managed manner. We have $20M insurance and skills managing difficult sites to keep volunteers safe while working
- Source PPE and safety gear for our volunteers. Over 100 volunteers will be needed for each clean up site
- Purchase petrol vouchers for cars / 4WDs
- Cover Council tip fees and skip bins for the tonnes of rubbish we need to safely dispose of
- Provide water and food for volunteers while working on clean up duty

 Project 3: Transport Van & Driver

We need to work smarter, not harder. About 40% of our time over the last 10 weeks has been organising the logistics of getting physical donations from 1 location to where they are needed.

Hundreds of volunteers have also moved goods using their own cars on their day off or if they have a few hours to spare. This has been a huge help, but it is not sustainable long term.

The volume of these donations and needs of the community will be there for at least 12 months, so we need a full time van and a full time paid driver to ensure these important deliveries get done.

Your donation will provide;

-  Transport van: (Ford Transit or something similar - new or 2nd hand)
- Wages for a driver for 12 months
- Fuel for 12 month of daily driving, insurance, servicing and Project Management

Please move fast and support our community with a donation today - every dollar makes a difference!

Stay safe, and thank you for your support.
